Additional Reasons Why it is Important to Serve Others
Here are a few other reasons why we think it is important to serve others besides number one below that we mentioned already in our Sunday, March 23rd, Weekly Update.
1. We need to follow His example. Jesus said He didn't come to be served, but to serve others. If we want to become more like Jesus, it needs to be a priority in our life too. (Matthew 10:45, Matthew 20:28).
2. We were created to serve. God has a design for each of us that only we are uniquely able to fill. He built giving our lives in service to Him, right into our DNA. (Ephesians 2:10, 1 Peter 4:10)
3. We demonstrate gratitude for His sacrifice. Jesus paid the debt for our sin on the cross; when we say 'yes' to him, He redeems our life. Serving others shows our thanks and love for Him. (Romans 12:1)
4. We acknowledge God has a plan for our life. Did you ever wonder why we're not just transported right to heaven the minute we say 'yes' to Him? He has something for each of us to do in sharing His message of hope. (2Timothy 1:9, Galatians 1:15)
5. We offer tangible proof. If we are truly committed to following Jesus, and appreciate the church family, our service to the body demonstrates our commitment and blesses others. (Romans 7:4, 1 Corinthians 12:27, Colossians 3:23)
6. Serving brings significance. Our lives will have new meaning and satisfaction as we invest them in things that matter. (Mark 8:35)
7. We recognize it matters. Someday we will be called to give an accounting for how we spent our time and be rewarded for the investments we've been willing to make in the lives of others for his sake. (Romans 14:12, John 12:26, Matthew 25:23)
